your love's like rhinestones falling from the sky

i have yet to listen to the new album yet.
i'm waiting till i get it on CD to officially listen to it.
that way i can obsorbe it all at once, and stuff.

It's nice to hear positive and negative feedback though.
it gives me a nice perspective of what i'm waiting for.

i won't deny you'll like it (mostly because it's new music). but i will go ahead and say you'll get over this album far quicker than we are pilots. in fact, i bet you're STILL not tired of we are pilots. that's how good that album is. season of poison will double as a coffee table coaster after a few weeks.

Nah, I think that's going a bit far. Blackout was a table coaster after a week or so.. But Season of Poison? No way. I love it. But I am starting to slip and say WAP is better... But the tracks I really like on SoP are just.. soo good. URG

try and think back to when you first heard we are pilots. when the songs were new and unfamiliar to your ears. imagine the feeling you got when you heard le disko for the first time, that 3-part harmonic breakdown of "oooh's and aahh's" and that piercing opening line "hello little boys, little toys." go back to when you first heard rainy monday or don't cry out. imagine the first time you heard chemistry of a car crash or you are the one. we are pilots blew everything away without question. it dominated my ears for years.

season of poison. there is not ONE track that took me back to that feeling. the feeling of goosebumps on my skin and chills. i'm not freaking out over it. i'm not calling my friends up with "you gotta hear this song".

it's only been a week since season of poison and i'm so tired of it. we are pilots kills this album, and i question anyone's taste in music that disagrees.

That is TOTALLY unfair to say. You can't question someone's music taste if they like this album a lot. I happen to LOVE it. I'm not comparing it to WAP because I don't have to. They don't have the same sound, nor were they intended to. The Beatles had so many different albums, and they had way different sounds but you wouldn't smack Hard Days Night down for being less emotional than Let it Be. Seriously!

It's new! It's darker! More rock, less synth. It's just different. Same Chad singing, same desired feelings to share. I get goosebumps, and that's enough for me, but don't tell me my music taste is questionable because I love it.

Well that's your problem. Not my fault you can't feel the power behind SoP. And there are songs that left me with goosebumps. Storm, Ghost Town, Ricochet, Poison, Blown Away, Frozen Oceans..

So yeah. I honestly don't think you're feeling the lyrics. You're trying to find something and are ignoring what's actually standing there. The album is just as artistic and rhythmical as WAP. SoP was not what let you down. You set your standards too high and let yourself down.... Simple as that.

And you honestly can't talk about anyone's taste in music if you can't even pay attention to what has been presented to you. The songs are way more powerful than WAP. They tells intense and emotional stories.. Stories that are reality.. A reality people live in every day. Some not known to others.

From overcoming abuse, to rebuilding love, to suicide/murder, letting go of the past living and pushing into a new world, remembrance of a better time, connecting both physically or mentally with someone who seems to be oceans away.. and to just basic stories of lust and the mystery that is love.

Wake up dude. Get over yourself and listen to what is around you.

But, dont praise me (don't worry, I wont)

in blown away, when chad hits that fal setto line "gets blown away" after "when revelation calls", he sounds like chris klein's character in the film 'just friends'. "when jamie smiles..."

Now play nice everybody.  We have SOP in our lives now to make us all get along!  I don't know about y'all but my life feels a little happier now that I've listened to the CD like 12 times in a row (just like I did WAP) and it's definitely no coffee coaster.  Word.

Word. I agree.

And did anyone who bought a physical copy of the CD notice the secret intro to Blown Away?! You have to listen to Poison and let it transition into Blown Away, but it's there!!! I like it. I like it a lot. It makes the song more powerful and sudden. Smiley

Oh! I did notice it!
I was freaking out so much. Elsa thought she needed to slap me to get me to calm down.

She didn't, but that didn't stop her. My cheek stings a bit.

I think it makes the song just so much more then it was... Like you said, powerful and sudden.
Simply amazing.

I was so luke warm about that song and then with that intro, it exploded in my mind. An expanse of dark purple suddenlies and deep blue misplacements. And light.

Okay, you absolutely cannot compare Shiny Toy Guns to Flyleaf. They're no where close.

I agreed with you at first 'dont praise me' but I had to give it more of a chance. Well I did, and the songs are growing on me. I can't connect to them as much as I could with WAP songs but it's still good. Different but good! Sucks you don't like it at all but oh well, that's your opinion. And my opinion is that yeah, it's not what I expected but I still went and bought the CD today because I want to support a band that I've loved for a few years now. I think this whole discussion should be dropped, it's a never ending argument.
