It does have that creepy feel too it huh?
It kind makes me think of watching a really bad storm come and you know that if you wait too long, you won't escape.

I started off the album with this song on my Mp3 player. Gives When Did This Storm Begin? that extra oomph. Kinda like "Uh oh, You stayed too long...now you're lost in the storm."

Creepy for sure, but it also has sadness to it. I didn't like it very much the first time I heard it; I couldn't understand most of what was being said. When I learned that there aren't any set lyrics for it, I decided to just listen and not focus on the words. I am fond of it now.

It feels like one of those rainy, overcast days where you can't help but focus on the dying tree outside your window; it has lost its leaves and cannot sway in the wind.

I have no idea what its about and don't care.  My thoughts on it...  A very different vibe than any other song I've heard.  Actually, its feel is maybe a bit like some opera songs that have sparse backing and a single singer singing in a slow melancholy style.  The most notable thing about it to me is the utter lack of repetition, which makes it extremely unaccessable on first listens, but once you've heard it enough times its pretty cool.  I don't think there's any melodic motif in the song that once Chad moves on...that he then goes back to it.  That's extremely unusual.

Even once it became a song that I rarely skip, I still wouldn't have referred to it as a great song, yet I always find it stuck in my head with me silently singing it as much as an hour later (if it was the last track I heard before putting my headphones away).  I will say that the part near the end where Chad drops to the lower notes after singing nearly falsetto all song very nearly gives me chills.  The Irish yodeling-like outro is cool too.  It was a brave decision to go so low-fi on the single backing synth, and the song obviously works, but it seems like a little more brainstorming and trying stuff to see what sticks might have helped the relatively uninteresting backing music.  To that end, it sort of has a demo feel to it.

How come nobody called me out on writing commentary about the wrong song?!  Usually every forum has at least one jerk that just can't wait to flame, lol.

So yeah, I'm looking back over my posts and notice that I apparently got lazy minded and thought of "free fall melody" even though the post is supposed to be about "a leading edge".  Sorry if I confused anyone.  As for profound commentary about the actual "A Leading Edge"...hmmm, ... weird stuff, man, fo' real.

Maybe we just assumed you were changing the subject? Or we secretly like you? Or are all just nice people to other nice people?

Yeah, we're fairly nice around here and we go off topic all the time, so it wouldn't be surprising if you did it too. Smiley

I will also admit, when I initially read your post I didn't realize you weren't talking about A Leading Edge. I did question the yodeling part, but then I thought I might be mixing up my weird STG songs and let it go. Smiley
