I think The Ting Tings are pretty similar to Shiny Toy Guns. Maybe some innerpartysystem, too. Cobra Starship, Owl City, yeahh.

Never heard of Owl City, I just looked them up now...I'd recommend them too like some people did already!  Grin More of an edited voice for vocals but it's pretty good though!

Haha I think you all hit on all the bands I would say.
Here's some more, I'm not sure if anyone else has hit on the yet but I'll throw them out anyway.
Panic! at the Disco [Old CD, not the new one]
Breathe Carolina
If you like house, or like HARDCORE techno sounds, I'd say go with Benny Benassi or DJ Tiesto...
Hellogoodbye
Sky Eats Airplane

There's a local band in my area that I'm pretty sure non of you heard of, but it's Mercy Mercedes. I like them, so maybe you can find a CD or something online....

Breathe Electric...

That's all I can think of that I didn't already see posted.
Enjoy Cheesy

Yeah, Owl City is pretty unheard of.
I just found out about them a month ago from their song, hello seattle.

you guys have got to be joking!! jack's mannequin? metro station? all these bubble-gum power pop bands sound nothing like shiny toy guns. but then again the lot of you are probably all 16 year-old acne braced face teens that know goose egg about music.

the lovemakers sound a lot like shiny toy guns. male/female vocals, synths, songs ranging from tearjerker ballads to sweaty dance floor anthems. check them out.

Ok, not exactly the same but try out The Sounds. I fell in love with them at the same time I found out about Shiny Toy Guns.

This may be hard to believe but there's people out there who are even bigger snobs about music than you who would consider STG bubble gum pop.  There's also people like me who like what we like and don't get all caught up in petty labels and passing judgment on others based on superficial things like taste in clothing and music.

But by all means continue educating us on your definition of real music.  Do you offer any lessons on being rude and obnoxious, too?

Pardon my own decline in manners, but the rampant negativity was getting old.

i'm neither a snob nor a music elitist. and yeah you're right, it's easy to get more obscure than shiny toy guns to make them look just as commercial and bubble-gum as paris hilton. but the fact of the matter is your angel's & airwaves, your metro stations, and your something corporates are hardly bands that you could lump together with shiny toy guns, sound wise.

lovemakers.

Everybody likes a band for a different reason. Two of my good friends who both have excellent taste in music have VERY different opinions on Metro Station--one laughs his head off when you even mention them, and the other loves them. You accept what people like in a band because they have they're own reasons.

I'll bet most of us like STG for our own reasons, but we don't shout each other down because we don't have the same ones. We aren't cut out of the same cookie cutter, so bash each other's shapes.

Silversun Pickups has a unique sound too, although TOTALLY different from STG. May I also mention Sonicflyer? Sweet band as well. And Eisley. Note, they are not "like" the STG but are unique like STG.

now you're just opening up a whole other can of worms, my dear. this topic is about bands SIMILAR to stg, not music appreciation 101.
