No, I agree with you. The old one has a nostalgic romance feel for me, while the new one is a disco dance love song. Okay, so that's only the way _I_ interpret it, but still. And I LOVE the new one. Rocketship was always my favorite STG song, and I am happy it's redone, but I still love both versions. As to the lack of "newness" or originality - I think it's like "Turned To Real Life" and others; i.e. they needed to re-record it anyway for the new record. They all (as in STG) love "Rocketship" the way it was, so maybe they didn't really WANT to alter it drastically, but make sure the recording was 'fresh' for the new album release, since not all of us can afford $250 for the orginal V1 WaP. - The Felinist |
