Okay, I think if you're even in these forums we can all agree that Shiny Toy Guns music is amazing. But lets talk lyrics. What do you feel or get from their lyrics? What do you think some of the songs are talking about?

Good idea nat!  Well I was just listening to Blown away....again lol and id have to say right now it has to be about going through a dark time in your life and how you think maybe its time to change and be someone else (the chorus explains that part hahaha) You Are The One- Someone who you think you will be with for the rest of your life ( still havent found THE ONE  lol) And i think Ricochet is about someone who you can stop thinking about and your still thinking about her in the back of your mind but YOU JUST DONT NOTICE!!! |

I can imagine that kind of despair in being so eternally far away from the one I love. Being totally in love and totally unable to reach them. You have to wonder what inspired that song.. *sniff* |

Yeah. i think that might be one of the reasons (besides their awesome sound) why people love them so much. you can relate to at least one of their songs very well. :] |

STG's lyrics are very well put together. More so than anything, I fall in love with a band because of clever lyrics. The catchy beats are a big plus of course but I think a bands got real talent when they can create songs that people can truly connect to. That's why I loved Evanescence so much, yeah it's a bit gothy sounding but wow, some of her songs really hit you hard if you're paying attention. Anyway, I was just listening to Ricochet and I'll throw this easy lyric in: Ricochet -

It starts with a kissThat's a bunch of confidence right there! I like it because it's like this super sexy seductive diva who knows how to get what she wants. I just love the idea of uncontrollable love/lust/whatever and being totally consumed by it. And mix that in with the rest of the song...
"I will wait it out,
I will not be shaken."
It's even more intense! Because now you're consumed and sucked into this feeling and you will not, will NOT be moved from your focus. It's almost scary, in it's beautiful, obsessive love.
By the way, somewhere down my Shiny road, I picked up an acoustic version of Le Disko. It's pretty awesome.
