with the election coming up (on the same date that Season of Poison comes out, actually), i wanted to know what everyone here thought.  no fighting, if people are for a different candidate, then let them be.  if it gets out of control, i may ask the admin to lock this.

anyway, i'm personally voting for Obama/Biden.

Haha. i Love how the election is the same day the CD comes out.
i realized that when i ran up to a huge group of people and
was like "guess why november 4 is the best day of the year!?"
and they all said "cause obama's going to win! beast!'
and i was like "no. Season of Poison. elections are nov. 4th?"

they all gave me blank looks. it was embarassing. :]

if i could vote, i'd be for Obama.
hopefully he'll win and i'll get to vote for him next time around. :]

i know that feeling.  for the last election, i really did not want Bush to win, and i was really surprised when he did.  i barely turned 18 in time (my birthday is 10/7), so i'm glad to be able to vote this time around.

I don't really know who I'm voting for. In my book, both are kind of ridiculous. I work at a book store read a lot of the politics books on my break. I'm tired of it... and just not sure.

Yeah. It's a struggle for me. I keep changin my mind. And I vote absentee, so I can't just decide on V-day... *sigh*

I'm voting for McCain/Palin.

I would like to know why people would vote for Obama. I'm absolutely open to anything because I'd like to know why so many people are endorsing/voting for him. When I've dug into what he stands for, I've found some things that I just do NOT agree with. Not that McCain is the absolute most excellent choice but I think he beats Obama by far. Please, please do not tell me anything that has to do with the word, "Change" It drives me CRAZY! But seriously though, what drove you to the conclusion to cast your vote to Obama? Lets stick to facts only. I just want to be informed.

of course.  thank you, hyen for asking for other's opinions in a mature way, and although you disagree with me, that's the best way to start a good discussion.

There are many reasons I support Barack Obama. He aims to end a war that is fought over greed. A lot of people complain about his tax raises, but I think the way he plans to do it is what we need.  First of all, if you earn less than $200,000/year (basically if you're lower or middle class), than your taxes will not go up. If you're upper-class, then you are financially very fortunate, and I think that the money we need to run the country should come from the people that have a lot to spare, not from the ones who are just scraping by, or don't even have enough to start with. The economic turmoil is toughest on the lower and middle classes, let's not make it harder for them.

Also, I feel sorry for any respectable people in the Republican Party right now.

People like that are giving the party as a whole a bad name.

I also agree with his tax policy. it seems fair to me, and not everyone is going to be happy no matter what we do to taxes, unless we get ride of them, which wouldn't work for obvious reasons.

and i just watched part of that video.
that is horrible!!! i can't believe some people believe that!
but i would like to make sure that we know not all republicans are like that. thank goodness,
i feel bad for Obama when people talk about him being a terrorist because of this ethnicity. i can relate..

I am voting for Obama.

Some good things about Obama is the whole tax issue gho57ofchurch mentioned, and the fact that Obama really wants to focus on the middle class.. He voted yes on a budget to reduce teen pregnancy through education and contraceptive. And Obama also supports increased funding for scientific research. ^_^ I am for Obama reducing the price of health care, but I definitely do not want free health care at all. Nothing ever hardly gets done. Especially if it's more affordable. I like the fact he believes Gay's should not be discriminated against, that he supports health benefits for gay civil partners. However, I do not like the fact that he believes gay marriage should be between a man and a woman (although, I do respect him for acknowledging that gay's should have equal rights regardless of their sexuality). But, as a president, it doesn't seem like he will act on gay marriage - he would rather leave it to the states, which I think is a good idea, too.

A big no-no for me about McCain is the fact that he opposes abortion. Personally, I believe that a woman should have the choice of whether or not they want to carry their child to term. MANY young girls nowadays are getting pregnant and not doing anything about it when they know that they cannot take care of a child. And many times, these children are not being put up for a adoption so that they can possibly have a better life. McCain also believes that doctors who perform an abortion if Roe vs Wade is overturned, those doctors should be prosecuted but not the women. Ridiculous.

Hmm. i was not aware of the last part about the docters being prosecuted. that is rather ridiculous in my view too.

That was quoted a long time ago, around 2000. However, his ideas still remain and he is still anti-abortion, which is something I am completely against.

Yes, same here.
I feel abortions should be up to the woman in question.

Vote for a third party? I don't know much about it, but I'd honestly rather vote for Obama.

i think it's sad that everyone has lost so much faith in our country's politicians that many people feel that they can't trust any candidate.  don't get me wrong, it's no one's fault but the liars'.

I think it's sad, too. I was quite disappointed with myself because at one point I wasn't even sure if I wanted to vote for either of them, but I did some more research and felt the need to vote for the one I had more in common with. That ended up being Obama.

And no, it's not because we need "change," or because of the color of his skin. I am voting for him because I can comprehend where he is coming from in some, or most aspects.

Alright, so here's the thing for me.

I don't agree with Obama wanting to pull out the troops right away. Obama hadn't even visited the country and he came to that conclusion. It's kind of like a slap in the face of all those families whose son or daughter/mother or father was killed while on duty over there. We started this, lets finish it.

I don't agree with Obama's EXTREME views on abortion. Basically, if a mother is 8 and 1/2 months pregnant and decides she doesn't want the baby, if that baby is carried to term, the nurses/doctors cannot medicate the child. A nurse actually held a baby in her arms for about 45 minutes until the newborn died in her arms because of the bill Obama passed. Go look at this article I think you'll find it very interesting.

http://www.thepublicdiscourse.com/viewarticle.php?selectedarticle=2008.10.14_George_Robert_Obama%27s%20Abortion%20Extremism_.xml

Obama has said basically on the lines of 'If my daughter made the mistake of getting pregnant, I would not want to punish her with a baby' Well....so okay all you young girls keep spreading your legs because you're not going to be punished with a baby!!!! You can hear him say it on this youtube video.

Okay, check this out. Obama says he wants to tax the corporations and higher income people. What will happen is because these corporations will be losing more money, they'll have to let go of their workers (low/mid class) and raise prices in order to balance out. So people lose their jobs and we have to pay more for our 'stuff'. And in the end, we're going to be screwed with taxes because well for one example, free national health care system? Hmmmmmm that doesn't make any sense to me. Nothing is free.

He's associated with known domestic terrorists. Actually launched his campaign in one of these terrorists, Bill Ayers', living room!

It's funny to me that the left winged people are saying, "People won't vote for Obama because of the color of his skin" --No. That's not the case. If McCain were Green I'd still vote for him. The reason I don't want Obama to be elected is plain and simple. He will be a poor leader with extreme radical friends and extreme socialist views. Oh yeah! And he has no experience.

I'm not the biggest fan of McCain, infact, if I had my way I would have chosen Mitt Romney or Ron Paul. However, I believe McCain will do the job and do the job right. And the whole age thing is so stupid. Reagan was 2 years younger than McCain when he was elected so honestly, not that big of a deal to me.

I'd actually like to know what conclusions you all came to as to why you're voting for Obama though. You say you did research, but what did you find? Maybe you can sway my vote!!! I'd like to be a bit more educated on the positives on Obama, I have yet to find anything substantial.
